Alabama checks in at No. 1 in the Preseason CBS Sports 130. The Crimson Tide are one of six SEC teams featured in the top-25.

Last season, the Tide went a perfect 13-0 and captured their sixth national championship in 14 seasons under Nick Saban. 2020 marked the second time Alabama went undefeated in the Saban era.

Bryce Young takes over at quarterback for Mac Jones. Young was rated as the nation's top-ranked dual-threat quarterback by all major outlets in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Last season, he appeared in nine games going 13-of-22 passing for 156 yards and a touchdown.

As a senior in high school, Young was selected as the 2019 High School Quarterback of the Year by the National Quarterback Club, the Maxwell Offensive Player of the Year while sharing the MaxPreps Player of the Year and Gatorade Football Player of the Year in California. He also earned Offensive MVP honors in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Offensively, the Crimson Tide are tasked with replacing three All-Americans in Najee Harris, DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. Brian Robinson Jr. will lead a deep and talented running back that features Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams, Trey Sanders and Camar Wheaton.

John Metchie will move into the No. 1 wide receiver role after reeling in 55 receptions for 916 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore. Traeshon Holden and Agiye Hall are expected to carve out big roles after a strong showing at A-Day. Alabama also added Ohio State transfer Jameson Williams who appeared in 22 games with the Buckeyes.

Jahleel Billingsley and Cameron Latu give this Alabama offense two massive threats at the tight end position.

On the other side of the ball Alabama returns eight starters to a unit that led the SEC in team defense a year ago. Six Alabama players were featured on the preseason All-SEC first-team defense including Phidarian Mathis, Henry To'o To'o, Christian Harris, Will Anderson, Malachi Moore and Josh Jobe. LaBryan Ray and Jordan Battle earned second-team nods with DJ Dale and Christopher Allen earning third-team honors.

Jayln Armour-Davis, Brian Branch, Kool-Aid McKinstry and DeMarcco Hellams complete an extremely talented group in the secondary.

The Crimson Tide are set the begin fall camp this Friday, Aug. 6. Alabama will open their season on Saturday, Sep. 4 against Miami in Atlanta.
