UA Commencement Busy But A Little Calmer This Spring
Commencement ceremonies at the University of Alabama this weekend are a little less hectic and are not the center of national media attention as was last year. President Donald Trump attracted a huge crowd of graduates, families and media when he delivered the spring graduation address after being introduced by former Alabama head football coach Nick Saban.
Last year roads were blocked, security was tight and the city was inundated by international, nation and state media. This year hotels and motels are still packed but the main attention is on the grads as the second day of three days of spring graduation is now underway at The Capstone. Over 7,000 degrees are being awarded at Coleman Coliseum.

Friday saw degrees conferred at exercises for Capstone College of Nursing, College of Community Health Sciences, College of Human Environmental Sciences, School of Social Work, Styslinger College of Engineering, College of Communication and Information Sciences and the College of Education.
Day two began at 8:30 this morning with commencement for graduates with names A-K of the Culverhouse College of Business, the school's graduation for students L-Z is scheduled for noon today.
There will also be two separate commencements for the Barefield College of Arts and Sciences. Students with last names A-K will reverse their tassels at 3:30 ceremonies followed by students L-Z at 7:00pm.
Commencement weekend wraps up with the UA School of Law ceremonies at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. The UA Law School is the only public school of law in the state.
Summer graduation at UA is set for Saturday, August 1 – 9am (All colleges).
