In 2022 we live in a social media driven world and we have seen football players utilize social media in strategic fashions in many instances.

Sports fans saw Deebo Samuel, Kyler Murray and DK Metcalf utilize Instagram to express their displeasure with their teams this past offseason to secure new contracts from their professional teams.

Current Alabama cornerback, Eli Ricks, posted on his Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning a photo of himself wearing his old team's uniform.

What does it mean?

Who can say?

He used a song "Test and Recognize" by Seekae, an Australian electronic music group in the background of his photo.

Test & Recognise Lyrics

[Verse 1]
It's started taking its toll on me now
It comes back to you
The lights are on but the bulbs have blown out
It comes back for you
Remain fully clothed
'Til you don't have to
Big chrome set of teeth
With nothing to chew[Pre-Chorus]
I see you wasted
I know what to do
Give that good pasting
Then come back for you
I'll come back for you
[Chorus]
When you asked me for some more, I was energized
Couldn't see your eyes, they were up inside
When you asked if I could see, I was pulverized
Sat in overdrive, test and recognize
When you asked me for some more, I was energized
Couldn't see your eyes, they were up inside
When you asked if I could see, I was pulverized
Sat in overdrive, test and recognize
When you asked me for some more, I was energized
Couldn't see your eyes, they were up inside
When you asked if I could see, I was pulverized
Sat in overdrive, test and recognize
When you asked me for some more, I was energized
Couldn't see your eyes, they were up inside
When you asked if I could see, I was pulverized
Sat in overdrive, test and recognize[Outro]
I know what to do
Then come back for you
It comes back for you

Ricks transferred to Alabama this past spring after spending time with the LSU Tigers. Many expected him to earn a starting role at the cornerback position opposite Kool-Aid McKinstry. He has been challenged by other corners, Khyree Jackson and Terrion Arnold who've both kept him from earning a starting role.

The California-native has appeared all six games this season tallying two total tackles while playing special teams and rotating in at cornerback.

While his social media post could mean absolutely nothing at all, it could be something interesting to pay attention to. Ricks has no mention of Alabama or LSU on his Instagram page.

The Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the Tennessee Volunteers this Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Knoxville. McKinstry and Arnold appear to have the starting cornerback positions locked down. It will be interesting to see how much impact Ricks might make on this Alabama defense going forward in 2022.
