Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel North and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Smith, and nephew Jaden Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie "Mimi" Berry; sister Kristie Hall (Greg); brothers Dwayne (Melissa) and Chad (Jennifer); mother, Barbee Smith (Wayne Champion); mother-in-law, Carolyn Prewitt; sister-in-law, Patricia Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Brian was the kind of man everyone could count on. If something was broken, he could fix it. A true jack of all trades with a servant's heart, he never hesitated to lend a hand and always put others before himself. After a courageous seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer, Brian is finally free from pain. His greatest gift came on May 21 when he accepted Jesus as his Savior. While his family will miss him every day, they find peace in knowing he is safely in the arms of Jesus and rejoice in the promise that they will see him again.
We will never be able to thank everyone enough. May we live the rest of our days giving back to others the way Captain Alex McDuffie and so many others gave to us.
Pallbearers will be Heath Beams, Todd Chism, Vice Prewitt, Dee Alexander, Joel Smith and Michael Grammer.
Honorary pallbearers are Curry Bennett, Randy Lee, Tony Brown, employees of Turner & Schoel, Dr. Alexander Bray and the Hematology and Oncology staff at UAB, Captain Alex McDuffie and crew, Hospice of West Alabama, and Ashley Kornegay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama in Brian's memory.
