High school seniors representing eight of the nine counties in West Alabama attended the West Alabama Works' WOW 2.0 event where over 600 contingent job offers were made to students.

According to a release from West AlabamaWorks!, 25 companies across the region were hiring for 1,100 positions. 230 seniors attended this year's event and 610 offers for employment were made with some students receiving multiple offers.

The release said this year's event exceeded the amount of job offers made last year by 192 offers.

The release said students had the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and post-secondary schools where they could score part-time, full-time, apprenticeship, and internship opportunities.

Marquell Griffin, a Central High School senior, said he was thankful for the opportunity to meet and engage with the visitors.

"My experience with WOW 2.0 has been nothing but a fresh breeze of air," Griffin said inthe release. "I have met different organizations, different companies, and talked to different people, different investors, and making more connections that I have ever made. It's been just a great experience."

West AlabamaWorks! will be honoring students who have entered an apprenticeship or full-time job through WOW 2.0 at the West Alabama Regional Signing Day, which will be held on May 2 at the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy at 5:30pm.
