5th University of Alabama Student Arrested in Ongoing Hazing Probe
A fifth student has been criminally charged with hazing in an ongoing University of Alabama Police Department investigation after four others were arrested earlier this week.

Depositions filed in those arrests say the actions which incited their arrests happened at the Pi Kappa Phi house on campus during the first week of classes.
A pledge there told police he was yelled at, stepped on, pushed and shoved, covered in beer and finally struck by two active members on two separate nights in August.
Each of the four suspects were charged with two counts each of criminal hazing, according to court documents filed Wednesday then obtained by the Thread.
On Thursday, a single new charge was filed against a fifth student, 22-year-old Stefan Maksimovich.
UPDATE: a deposition was filed in this case Thursday morning. According to the document, Maksimovich is on video shoving a pledge, slapping him across each cheek, shoving him and painfully rubbing his sternum.
A UA spokesperson confirmed the probe and condemned hazing in a statement released to the Thread Wednesday.
"The University of Alabama strictly prohibits hazing and thoroughly investigates allegations, including appropriate coordination with law enforcement and Greek chapter national organizations. An investigation into hazing violations reported at Pi Kappa Phi is ongoing and led to UAPD serving warrants against several members this week," she said. "Hazing violates University policy, the Code of Student Conduct, and the law, and it is a matter that the University takes seriously. The University recently updated its hazing policy to strengthen accountability and reporting requirements, and information about resolved hazing violation cases is published on the endhazing.sl.ua.edu website."
Without further comment from the University, it is impossible to say if more arrests may follow.
