A 23-year-old man was killed Friday evening in a fiery single-car accident outside Marion, State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have confirmed.

Trooper Reginal King, an ALEA spokesman in West Alabama, said the victim, Jaylan Malik Vaughn, was driving a 2017 Dodge Challenger on Perry County Road 45 when the car left the roadway just before 8:30 p.m. Friday.

King said the car struck a tree and caught fire. Vaughn, who lived in Marion Junction, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders.

King said the accident took place around one mile south of the town of Marion in Perry County.

No further details were available Saturday morning, and Troopers continue to investigate the deadly accident.
