One of Tuscaloosa's most popular annual races will return this Saturday morning, drawing hundreds of participants and raising cash for the city's Pre-K Initiative.

The Tuscaloosa Mayor's Cup was founded during Walt Maddox's first term as the city's top elected official back in 2007.

Every year since then, the race has pulled in participants from all over the community and benefitted the city's preschoolers with a cumulative fundraising total exceeding $350,000.

This year's Mayor's Cup starts Saturday morning at 8 a.m. in Government Plaza and will take runners, walkers, families and more through downtown Tuscaloosa and to Bryant Denny Stadium before coming up the Strip back to the park.

Registration is still open and the city is even offering a last-minute discount for anyone who's held out this long - learn more and register at the Mayor's Cup site here, and use GETFIT2025 for a $5 discount good through this Friday.
