The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is currently investigating two non-lethal shootings that took place over the weekend.

According to VCU Commander Capt. Jack Kennedy, the first incident occurred on the 3800 block of 1st Avenue on Saturday. VCU investigators were called to the scene at approximately 9 p.m.

"One person was struck with non life-threatening injuries," Kennedy said in a Monday press release.

No arrests in relation to this case have been made at this time.

The second shooting this weekend occurred on Sunday at approximately 1 p.m. when investigators arrived at the 1500 block of Culver Road. A subject reported multiple shots fired in his direction by unknown persons, but he was not struck.

Both cases are still currently under investigation, according to Kennedy, and more information is sure to be released in the coming days. The Tuscaloosa Thread will update with a story as those facts are made available.
