Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service, said a large tree fell across Veterans Memorial Parkway early Monday morning and struck two vehicles on its way down.

Whigham said one person suffered minor injuries in the accident but fortunately no one was seriously hurt.

The fallen tree and the response required to remove it from the roadway closed Veterans Memorial Parkway for a few hours Monday morning, but the debris has since been cleared and the road is re-open.
