Tuscaloosa Firefighters Climb Coleman Coliseum Stairs in Full Gear on 9/11 Anniversary
A small crew of firefighters in Tuscaloosa kept an annual tradition alive Thursday morning, climbing stairs at Coleman Coliseum in full gear to remember first responders who died in the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001.
Traditionally, participants climb 2,200 stairs to represent the 110 stories of the World Trade Center - a grueling task even without the weight of full firefighter gear on their bodies.

Almost 350 firefighters and other first responders were killed in the 9/11 attacks, many of whom died saving other lives.
TFR and other local agencies and organizations marked the 24th anniversary with solemnity on Thursday, with Mayor Walt Maddox sharing a message in memory of all lives lost and those risked or sacrificed in the service of others.
