1 Dead in Collision with Sipsey Valley Middle School Bus in Tuscaloosa County Wednesday
One person was killed when a vehicle on US 11 rear-ended a Tuscaloosa County School System bus carrying students to Sipsey Valley Middle and High Schools Wednesday morning.
Traffic is nightmarish across the area, with another fatal wreck closing I-359 North in Tuscaloosa and a commercial vehicle wreck snarling traffic on I-20/59 near the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International plant.
The fatal accident occurred around 6:54 on US 11 in Fosters, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
It involved a bus carrying students to Sipsey Valley Middle School and was carrying students at the middle and high school.
All students survived the accident and were able to be transferred to another bus and taken to their schools, according to a message to Sipsey Valley parents.
"Nurses and emergency medical personnel were on site to evaluate students once they arrived," superintendent Keri Johnson said in a press release. "Counselors are also available for any students who need support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school administrator."
