One Woman Dead After Friday Afternoon Shooting in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
A woman is dead after a shooting at Hay Court Apartments in Tuscaloosa Friday afternoon, local law enforcement has confirmed.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called to the scene of a shooting at Hay Court in West Tuscaloosa just after 4 p.m.
Taylor said police discovered an adult female dead at the scene of the shooting.
Investigators have said the victim was 19 years old.
No suspects are in custody, and no further details were immediately available.
The case will be handed over to the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, which is made up of detectives from the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the Northport Police Department, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office and the University of Alabama Police Department. The VCU investigates all violent crimes, unnatural deaths and sex crimes in Tuscaloosa County.
By the count of the Tuscaloosa Thread staff, this shooting marks the 19th homicide in Tuscaloosa County so far in 2021.
