Blowouts were the name of the game around West Alabama Friday evening but there were a few close games as well. Here’s a look at what happened along with a few other games of interest:
Hillcrest obliterated Brookwood 44-0 in a game featuring a second half running clock.
The clock also ran the final 24 minutes in Gordo’s 49-0 shutout of Tarrant. It was a happy homecoming as quarterback Brax Garrison and running back Ray Ray Williams both shined.
McAdory celebrated homecoming by crushing Central 37-7.
ACA did the same in a 41-26 win over Hale County. Converted quarterback Carson Sute and receiver Davis Dare helped the Pats win.
Lynn came in and crushed Holy Spirit 49-13. The Saints will look for their first win against Berry next week.
Northridge hit the road for a 41-6 win at Paul W. Bryant.
Tuscaloosa County had the win of the night as the Wildcats beat Oak Mountain to celebrate homecoming. Kevin Riley plowed over the goal line as time expired to clinch a 34-31 thriller over the Eagles.
Prattville Christian downed Greensboro 28-14 while the 7A Prattville Lions upset Opelika 24-21 in OT.
Pickens County prepared for the “Eight Mile War” against Gordo next week by cruising past South Lamar 36-6.
Aliceviille downed Sulligent 54-28.
Haleyville came to Samantha and won a tight one over Northside 35-27.
Tuscaloosa Academy continued its first-year AHSAA success with a 34-7 win over the Lamar County Bulldogs.
Eight-man football teams from Tuscaloosa went 0-2 Friday as Lighthouse Home School beat North River Christian 34-28 while Jacksonville Christian held off Tuscaloosa Christian 40-0.
Games of interest in the Birmingham area saw Hoover win at Hewitt-Trussville 17-7, Thompson crush Chelsea 48-3 and Clay-Chalkville trample Center Point 56-19.
