The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama is bringing back Celebrate Local, an annual affair that seeks to promote and support community-owned businesses.

According to a Monday press release, the 2021 event will showcase area vendors and encourage the West Alabama community to shop locally. The Chamber is hosting Celebrate Local at the Tuscaloosa River Market on June 22 from noon to 7 p.m.

“We’re fortunate to have a wide variety of retailers and boutiques in our community, and we’d like to invite everyone to come by and see what West Alabama has to offer,” said Alicia Gregory, the Chamber of Commerce's Special Events Coordinator, in the release.

The event is free, and everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Visitors should expect to come with some money to burn, as the release indicated that they will be able to shop at each booth for locally-produced "clothing, jewelry, home decor, art, gifts and more." As an added incentive, all attendees will receive a Celebrate Local tote to store their purchases.

Many vendors are sure to be stocked with "fun and useful" swag and freebies to give away during Celebrate Local. Area restaurants will also be on-site, providing samples of their most popular entrees for hungry shoppers.

This endeavor would not be possible without support from Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports.

“We are happy to see Celebrate Local return this year and to continue the partnership with this incredible event,” said Don Staley, Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports' President and CEO, in the release. “The event offers a unique opportunity to educate the community about our mission, while also spotlighting things to see and do. Our organization is especially excited to showcase the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights Trail through this event this year.”
