Tuscaloosa Man Charged with 8 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography
A Tuscaloosa man was arrested Thursday after investigations with the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force reportedly discovered illegal pornography on his electronic devices.
In a Friday morning press release, task force Commander Phil Simpson said the investigation began when WAHTTF received a tip about a person suspected of possessing child pornography in Tuscaloosa.
Last month, agents obtained search warrants for the home of 24-year-old Michael Andrew Fisher Tubbs, a Tuscaloosa man, and removed electronic devices from the residence.
After reviewing the contents of the devices, the task force obtained warrants to arrest Tubbs, which they did Thursday.
Tubbs was charged with eight counts of possession of obscene material depicting persons under the age of 17 involved in obscene acts.
He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remained Friday pending a $120,000 bond.
Simpson said the Task Force worked the case with the assistance of the Tuscaloosa Police Department's Cyber Crimes Division and the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
