Polls are now officially open across the city of Tuscaloosa for municipal elections to decide half a dozen contested races for the mayor's office, spots on the city council and one school board seat.

Polls are open in each of the city's seven districts. Many incumbents and one newcomer, attorney Clint Mountain, ran uncontested races, but even in districts where there are no challengers for those seats, citizens can cast a vote for mayor.

Polls close at 7 p.m. tonight, though if anyone is waiting to vote at that time they will be allowed to do so - that's often not a factor in municipal races, where turnout is generally lower than other elections.

The Thread has written extensively about most of the candidates running in contested races - you can check out that coverage here.

We'll publish a new story when polls close, where we'll share real-time election results first and free of charge.

See a list of polling places across the seven districts below - if you don't know what district you live in, you can search for your address here. No matter your politics or positions, we encourage citizens across Tuscaloosa to get informed and exercise their right to vote today!
