On a humid Friday night in Brookwood, the Hueytown Golden Gophers defeated the Panthers by a score of 62-0.

The Panthers' struggles lasted all 48 minutes on both sides of the ball. The Golden Gophers, on the other hand, certainly had a night to remember by stacking up a total of 563 yards in total offense.

Channeling his inner Nick Saban, Hueytown's head coach Greg Patterson still wasn't totally satisfied with his young squad's performance.

"There's always stuff to clean up, you know, some miscues here [and there]," Patterson said. "Mostly, you see a lot of that stuff in blocking assignments... on the perimeter. But those guys came out here tonight and did what we asked them to do."

Hueytown's offense, lead by junior quarterback Alex Young, stole the show and suffocated the Panthers' defense. Young had a perfect passing night with the yardage to prove it by hanging four touchdowns and 286 yards through the air with no incompletions.

After his performance, Young was asked about his contributions to the evening. The junior gunslinger stated that his coaching staff "emphasized having a mistakeless game." When asked what he would like to say to the other teams ahead of him on their schedule, Young offered a word of warning:

"Beware."

Hueytown came into the evening with an 0-3 record after forfeiting their last two games due to COVID-19 related issues. Likewise, Brookwood has been without their head coach, Mike Bramblett, after week one due to positive COVID-19 tests among students close to the team.

Next Friday, the Brookwood Panthers, now 0-4 for the season, will see if they can right the ship at home when they take on the Northridge Jaguars at 7 p.m. Hueytown, now 1-3 on the campaign, faces a tall task next week at home as they take on the undefeated Hillcrest Patriots.
