Sergeant Jeremy Burkett, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said Jamya S. Tate was driving a 2019 Honda Accord on the interstate when she left the roadway and struck several trees before colliding with a ditch.

Burkett said Tate was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Honda in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which was about a mile north of coaling near Mile Marker 81.

The single-vehicle wreck happened around 9:45 p.m.

Burkett said ALEA is still investigating the deadly wreck and no further details were available Sunday night.
