Utility Work Closes Judy Bonner Drive And Affects Campus Traffic
UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA CAMPUS TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
Due to utility work, Judy Bonner Drive is currently closed just east of Elm Drive on the University of Alabama campus. According to a press release from the UA Media Center the duration of the traffic detour is not currently known.
The release states, "While subject to change, current impacts are:
- Judy Bonner Drive is closed just east of Elm Drive. (Behind Little and Wade Halls, and in front of the Alpha Delta Pi and Delta Gamma sorority houses.)
- All traffic on Judy Bonner should turn left (north) onto Elm Drive and exit via University Boulevard.
- As a result of this detour, Elm Drive is closed to all southbound traffic.
"Access to parking behind Little and Wade Halls is affected. Plan accordingly and allow extra time when traveling through this area."
Utility crews are working to address an issue with a central thermal water line. UA says Utility service on campus is not impacted.
Tutwiler Thermal Piping Distribution extends the thermal piping from a newly
installed connector point at the intersection of Judy Bonner Drive and Colonial Drive to the South Campus Energy Plant located in the Tutwiler Parking Deck to provide thermal energy for the Tutwiler Hall.
Students are returning to campus today after the Thanksgiving holiday break.
