The Tuscaloosa Gauntlet may not be the longest race you can run in the city, but it certainly aims to be the toughest, and those who are fit and brave enough can take on the 5-mile, military-inspired course in just a few weeks.

The fourth annual race returns on Saturday, April 5th, with a fresh course layout and around two dozen challenges for runners to overcome on the way to the finish line.

Participants and organizers were at the Buddy Powell Pavillion in North Tuscaloosa Wednesday afternoon to walk through the U.S. Marine Corps regulation obstacle course which is just one of almost two dozen challenges awaiting those who take on the Gauntlet.

The Gauntlet raises money for the Alabama Marines Foundation, a charitable 501C3 that helps veterans and is spearheaded each year by Tuscaloosa City Councilman and retired Marine Infantry Officer Lee Busby.

The first race drew a little over 250 participants in 2022 and has grown every year since.
