Police in Tuscaloosa have launched an investigation after a victim suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said details are still sparse at 5:30 Thursday, but a gunshot victim is being treated at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Standard operating procedure at the hospital is for the campus to go into a state of lockdown when they are treating a shooting victim, and that heightened security was reportedly in place Thursday.
