Tuscaloosa Police Officer’s Gun Fires During Arrest Near Stillman College, No One Hurt
No one was hurt Monday morning when a Tuscaloosa Police Officer's firearm was discharged during an arrest near Stillman College.
Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said a Tuscaloosa police officer was attempting to arrest a person around 3600 Stillman Boulevard late Monday morning.

The person resisted arrest and began to struggle with the officer, and Kennedy said the subject was actively trying to remove the TPD officer's service weapon when the firearm discharged.
Fortunately, no one was struck or injured in the struggle.
Kennedy said the subject is in custody and an investigation is ongoing. Stillman College is not involved in the incident except through proximity to the unrelated arrest.
The VCU is a multi-agency unit, and per protocol, this incident will be investigated by law enforcement officers who are not affiliated with the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
