Second Man Charged in Tuscaloosa Shooting That Nearly Killed Victim
Police have arrested a second man in connection to a January shooting that threatened the life of the Tuscaloosa man it injured.
As the Thread reported last month, a man was shot in the abdomen at Creekwood Village apartments on 40th Avenue on January 4th.
In depositions filed after two separate arrests, investigators said the victim, an adult black man, was in some kind of verbal dispute with 27-year-old La'darrius Deshon Whitehead at the apartments.
Whitehead was reportedly captured on camera walking up to another man, 28-year-old Kevin Driver, who gave him a gun.
Whitehead allegedly pointed it at the victim and fired a shot, then handed the gun back to Driver, who fired the gun into the air.
The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but ultimately stabilized and survived.
Driver was arrested relatively quickly, within a week of the shooting, but Whitehead was not taken into custody until Monday of this week. Both suspects were charged with one count of attempted murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where they both remain. Bond was set at $60,000 each.
