Tuscaloosa Police Identify Young Man Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck Tuesday
Police in Tuscaloosa have released the identity of the 24-year-old pedestrian who was fatally struck by a semi-truck on McFarland Boulevard early Tuesday morning.
The deadly predawn accident took place around 3:30 a.m. in the 5100 Block of McFarland Boulevard near its intersection with Skyland Boulevard.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said the victim was Terrance Alexander McCoy.

Police spoke to the semitruck driver, who said he'd hit McCoy while the 24-year-old Tuscaloosa man was walking in the middle of the westbound lane of McFarland.
McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and the street was closed to traffic for about six hours on Tuesday morning to facilitate an investigation from TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit.
The unit investigates any accident within city limits that results in serious injury or death, and their involvement in the case alone does not suggest criminal behavior.
No other information was immediately available on Wednesday afternoon when TPD provided McCoy's name to local media outlets.
