Residents of or visitors to Tuscaloosa with overtime parking tickets can see them disappear by donating to the city's annual holiday toy drive for the next three weeks.

The popular program was introduced several years ago and has been brought back by the Tuscaloosa mayor and city council annually since then.

Through it, anyone with a parking ticket, which costs $19, can have it forgiven by donating a toy worth $10 or more at the Municipal Court. Toys worth $20 or more will be accepted instead of two overtime parking tickets.

City officials do request a receipt or price tag showing the value of a toy in order to take advantage of the offer.

The gifts collected will then be given to the local Toys for Tots nonprofit and distributed to families whose circumstances do not allow for Christmas shopping.

The donation drive runs now through December 4th, so if you have a ticket to take care of, act fast. Those seeking Participants can bring their toys to the Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 Gary Fitts Street until then.

To learn more about the program, residents can call Tuscaloosa 311.
