Tuscaloosa Motorcyclist Dies After Friday Night Crash in Northport
A motorcyclist from Tuscaloosa has died after a Friday night crash on McFarland Boulevard in Northport.
As the Thread previously reported, the motorcyclist was involved in the first of a pair of accidents on the highway that night. Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, told local media on Monday that the rider did not survive his injuries.

Carpenter said police believe Matthew Bryan Mills, a 39-year-old from Tuscaloosa, was driving his 2015 Yamaha Striker west on McFarland Boulevard when he struck the rear end of a 2003 Jeep Liberty moving the same direction.
The wreck happened around 8:15 p.m., and a third vehicle crashed nearby soon after - Carpenter said they swerved to avoid the first accident and struck a sign or pole off the road.
Northport Police, Nortphort Fire and Rescue and NorthStar Ambulance responded to the scene and transported Mills to an area hospital, but he later died.
Carpenter said the investigation into the fatal accident is still ongoing, but said at this time no criminal charges are expected.
