Tuscaloosa Man Killed in Collision with Train in West End of Birmingham
A Tuscaloosa man was killed in Birmingham Sunday morning when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a train at a railroad crossing.
Jefferson County's Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told the Thread the victim has been identified as 52-year-old Anthony Dewayne Jones, who lived in Tuscaloosa.
Jones was reportedly driving a 2005 Lexus LS 430 and was struck by a train a few minutes before 1:15 Sunday morning. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Yates said the collision took place in the 900 block of 15th Place Southwest in Birmingham's West End.
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, Yates said.
