The City of Tuscaloosa announced Wednesday it would move its seasonal ice skating rink, formerly known as Holidays on the River, to its new home at Government Plaza this year.

Dubbed "Holidays on the Plaza," the event will also feature the Tinsel Trail benefitting Tuscaloosa's One Place, private parties and other holiday festivities yet to be announced.

“We are excited to move this festive event from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to Government Plaza,” sayid Stacy Vaughn, Director of Public Services for the City. “With increased visibility and proximity to local businesses and restaurants, we hope to make this event more convenient to the community.”

The skating rink will open starting November 22, and will remain open through January 17.

Although general admission to the event is free, guests must purchase skate passes to enter the skating rink. Daily skate passes will cost $15, with a season pass option for $85. Passes will go on sale starting November 1.

Private parties, birthdays and corporate event rental packages are available now online. Those interested can fill out an event request form online here.
