Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Battling Monday Blaze at Recycling Center
The Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue service is battling a blaze at Liberty Recycling Center on 24th Street Monday afternoon, a spokeswoman for the fire department has confirmed to the Tuscaloosa Thread.
Holly Whigham, a public information officer for the department, confirmed five units and two battalions were on the scene battling the blaze.
Several Tuscaloosa Police officers also responded, and a Northstar ambulance was on the scene on standby, although no injuries had been reported as of 5:30 p.m.
Thick, dark smoke was visible rising from the scene all over Tuscaloosa Monday afternoon.
There was another large fire at the recycling center last month, and it was unclear Monday if the two blazes were related.
