Tuscaloosa County Schools to Fill Board Seat After Member’s Death
The Tuscaloosa County School System is mourning the death of one of its board members and taking applications to fill the seat left vacant after his passing.
Bill Copeland, who has served on the board since 2006, died earlier this month, fellow board member Don Pressley said in a special board meeting in mid-December.
“If there was an issue he believed strongly in, Bill was going to stick with it and work on that issue, until hopefully things came out to a positive outcome, for the benefit of the school system and students that he served,” Presley said. "We will miss him."
The board is now taking applications to fill the District 7 Board seat which Copeland occupied. The window to apply closes next Thursday, January 7th.
Any individual looking to apply must be a registered voter in the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education District 7.
The district includes Brookwood Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Cottondale Elementary, Davis Emerson Middle School, Holt High School, Lake View Elementary School and Vance Elementary School.
