Leaders in Tuscaloosa assembled at the city's newest attraction Thursday morning to officially cut the ribbon at PopStroke, a new mini golf paradise near the University of Alabama off McFarland Boulevard.

The PopStroke brand is owned by Tiger Wood's company TGR Ventures and in April, they announced plans to open new putting courses in a dozen cities including Tuscaloosa.

Now, after a whirlwind construction over the last nine months, PopStroke is officially opened at 680 Harper Lee Drive near the Hampton Inn, Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools and Baunhower's Victory Grille.

"Excited to officially cut the ribbon on PopStroke Tuscaloosa this morning," Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said on Facebook. "This golf experience designed by Tiger Woods is going to be an amazing addition to Tuscaloosa. Thank you to Council President Tyner and many City team members for the work that went into securing one of only 13 new locations in the whole country for right here in Tuscaloosa. Can't wait to try it out with my family!"

The new facility is just the 10th PopStroke to open.

"PopStroke Tuscaloosa features two uniquely designed 18-hole mini golf courses, an elevated quick-service dining experience on an expansive outdoor patio with a full bar offering craft beers and signature cocktails, a private event space overlooking both courses and oversized televisions and screens throughout the property," a spokesperson said in a press release. "In addition, guests can also enjoy plenty of fun for the entire family, including an ice cream parlor with 16 flavors, custom signature milkshakes, and plenty of outdoor games like ping pong, foosball, and corn hole."

"We are excited to bring the first Collegiate PopStroke experience to the city of Tuscaloosa and the home of the Crimson Tide," said PopStroke Founder and CEO Greg Bartoli said. "Our mission is to bring people together through golf entertainment, regardless of age or skill level, and to leave our guests with lasting memories of their time at PopStroke. Tuscaloosa is the perfect place to welcome a mix of students, families, young professionals, and retirees."

“I am over the moon with excitement about the opening of Popstroke,” said Tuscaloosa City Council president Kip Tyner. “Family-friendly entertainment is a top request from my constituents, and boy, did we hit a home run with this incredible venue. We’re so grateful to the PopStroke team!”
