ALERT: Truck Loses Whole Storage Shed on Tuscaloosa Bridge, Snarling Traffic
Traffic into Tuscaloosa was badly snarled Monday morning when a truck transporting an entire assembled storage shed dropped it on the Hugh Thomas Bridge.
Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, confirmed that they had traffic officers responding to a lost load in the bridge's southbound lanes leading from Northport into Tuscaloosa on Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard.
Traffic cameras show multiple lanes blocked by an entire, assembled storage shed in the middle of the road. Better than chicken parts, perhaps.
Carpenter did not have an estimated time for when the bridge might be clear again -- traffic is moving slowly in the one lane not closed by the incident.
If possible, motorists should avoid the area until the bridge can be cleared and lanes are reopened.
UPDATE, 1:30 P.M.: The shed has been removed from the bridge and traffic is flowing normally again.
