Spann Says Holiday Weekend Weather in Alabama Won’t Be a “Washout”
We are heading into a long holiday weekend. The celebration of Labor Day is to recognize the contributions of American workers. Here is what you need to know if you are traveling throughout the Yellowhammer State, hosting cookouts, sitting poolside, boating, or just relaxing.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “the sky will be occasionally cloudy tomorrow through Monday with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms each day. Understand this doesn't mean the weekend will be a "washout" the sun will be out at times.”

That is good news. Also, you can “expect a passing shower or storm from time to time. While most of the showers will come from noon to midnight, we can't rule out some late night or morning rain as well. The chance of any given spot seeing rain each day is 60-70 percent, and highs will be low to mid-80s,” said Spann.

Holiday Weekend Tips
Since there is no way to plan in advance because the showers and thunderstorms will be scattered be sure to check the radar for the now and future outlooks. That will help you plan outdoor events.
Always have a plan B to your plan A. If you are hosting a cookout be sure you can host inside as well. If it’s a quick shower, have some extra umbrellas on hand and ways to cover the cookout supplies.
You can watch the forecast and either move up or push back the event time.
