Shooting Near The Strip Claims One Life, Authorities Charge Suspect With Murder
One person is dead after a shooting near The Strip in Tuscaloosa early Friday morning.
According to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Commander Jack Kennedy, the victim, 19-year-old Schuyler Bradley, has died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting which happened in the 1700 block of University Boulevard on October 16th.
A suspect has been identified in the case and his charges have been upgraded following Bradley's death.
"The VCU has now charged [22-year-old Zachary Profozich] with murder," Kennedy said. "Profozich was committed to jail on one count of murder with a $150,000 bond."
Profozich was originally charged with attempted murder following the shooting.
According to investigators, the shooting was a result of a chance encounter between Bradley and Profozich on the sidewalk and neither of the two men are currently students at the University of Alabama.
