Sharon was a lifelong resident of Ralph, Alabama where she was instrumental in helping her parents acquire a loan to start the Fosters Ralph Water Authority. She continued to serve as the office manager for 17 years. She was a member of the Tuscaloosa County High class of 1968. After her children reached school age, Sharon went back to school earning her BSN from the Capstone College of Nursing. She began her nursing career in 1982 at what is now known as Northport DCH and then worked at Tuscaloosa DCH until retirement.
After a short retirement, she decided to continue her service to others working as a home health care nurse for Hospice of West Alabama until her final retirement in 2019. Sharon was an active member of the Alfa Farmers Federation women’s committee. Sharon’s love and care for others wasn’t only reserved for her patients, but for all she encountered. She was quick to share a warm smile, kind words and a helping hand. In 2017, Sharon was diagnosed with MDS and began treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. After a couple of years, she received a leukemia diagnosis which led to her bone marrow transplant in March 2024. She continued to fight to the end with unwavering faith.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Manderson Cancer Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center, UAB and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Hospice of West Alabama, or the Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery Fund.
