There is potential for severe weather across Alabama today.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has reported that showers and storms will become more likely today. They note "a few isolated storms are possible during the afternoon and evening hours."

NWS in Birmingham notes the timing of the severe weather has been adjusted to 2-10 p.m. Threats as part of this weather include "damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail."

James Spann reported via Facebook that the storms today "will lead to lower heat levels" across Alabama.

Spann described the storms as having "potential for microbursts" with "small scale areas of damaging straight line winds."
