Tuberville & Britt Back SAVE America Act
Republicans in congress claim the SAVE America Act, would strengthen election integrity, but Democrats argue it could make it harder for millions of Americans to vote. The measure has already passed the U.S. House, and its future now rests with the U.S. Senate, where both Alabama U.S. Senators are vocal backers of the bill pushed by the Trump Administration.
If passed, voters would be required to provide two forms of identification at the polls, such as a passport and birth certificate. The bill would also require people to register to vote in person.

Alabama would be forced to change its current law that only requires one form of identification and allows voter registration online or by mail.
Alabama's Senior U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville alleges Democrats oppose the bill for political reasons and claims non-citizens could influence elections. “I’m tired of hearing about … the voter fraud … illegals voting,” Tuberville told Fox News Business. (No widespread illegals voting in American elections have been discovered).
Junior Senator Katie Britt also backs the measure, she told the Will Kane Show on Fox News, “…[W]e have to focus on the fact that this is what America wants, and this is what America deserves. Look, there is nothing more fundamental than Americans having faith in their elections. That is what allows our democracy to continue to flourish … We show ID for literally everything else. To pick up your tickets to go into a football game, or to get on an airplane or a mortgage or to get a paycheck."
Britt noted that New York City recently required two forms of ID to volunteer to shovel snow and Georgia Democratic Senator John Ossoff required ID to enter a recent campaign event.
The act also includes working that requires states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters.
Republicans are unsure if they have enough votes in the upper chamber to currently pass the act.
