Richard David “Hooleo” Todd (July 28th, 1951 – August 3rd, 2023)

Richard David "Hooleo" Todd, age 72 of Northport, passed away August 3, 2023 at home.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel North with Melton Short officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother-in-Law; William F (Bill) and Sheila Koon.

Survivors include his wife; Sheila Koon Todd, daughter; Nicole Pookie Roberson (Kyle), sons; Lee David Todd (Staci), Richard Chad Todd (Jordan), grandchildren; Cayde Todd, Phebe Todd, Sophia Todd, Libby Todd, Will Roberson, Piper Roberson, Lucas Todd, Chase Channell, Paislee Roberts, and Avery Roberts, brother-in-law; William F (Billy) Koon, Jr. (Lachelle), sister-in-law; Judy Koon, Brad and Adrian Roberts and various cousins and other relatives.

He was born in Leamington Spa, England on July 28, 1951. After completing trade school for plumbing, he married Sheila Koon and they migrated to the United States. They chose to settle in Tuscaloosa County where Richard got a job at Reichold Chemicals. Richard was a plumber by trade and while working at Reichold, he decided he would venture out on his own and become a self-employed contractor. He prided himself on being diversified in all areas of the construction business and encouraged others to do the same.

Richard's grandchildren were his pride and joy. You could always catch him at the ballpark, giving rides to gymnastics, going to choir concerts, taking them on mystery tours, in his shop building a shelf that one of them may have designed and going to book fairs. He was always up for anything any of his grandchildren had going on or wanted to do.

He was known for his endless and repetitive stories of life and work. He was humored by those who knew and loved him when he found the opportunity to share those stories with them again and again. May we always share his stories.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Brown, Charles Jones, Tess Jones, Eddie Clements, Dr. Hemstreet and Jeremy, Dr. Browne and Mitchell, and Jay Walton.
