City Mourns Friday Death of “Tuscaloosa’s Doctor” Ramesh Peramsetty
City leaders, his staff and patients across the area are mourning the Friday afternoon death of "Tuscaloosa's Doctor," Ramesh Peramsetty.
Peramsetty was the well-known founder and medical director of a group of local medical officers operating as the Crimson Network, including Alabama Family Medical Care, both Crimson Care locations, Crimson Village and the Tuscaloosa Weight Loss Center.
Peramsetty had a city street off Veteran's Memorial Parkway named after him early this year to recognize his impact on the area and also had a city holiday declared in his honor last Spring to recognize his 25 years of service to patients and the role he played during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Crimson Care network issued a brief statement confirming his death Friday. He was 63.
"As many are aware at this moment, we have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing," they wrote. "The Peramsetty family asks for us to give them privacy as they grieve his passing. They have received abundant outpouring of love and faith. We will continue to honor him as he would want us to do. Thank you for your understanding."
"I'm simply devastated over the loss of one of my dearest and closest friends," said Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner. "He had a heart of gold and his list of helping others was unmatched He loved this city he loved his family and friends deeply and cared for his patients like they were all his family."
Our thoughts are with Dr. Peramsetty's family, patients and staff in the wake of his passing.
