Police Say Fatal Crash Victim Was 20-Year-Old Northport Man
The victim of a fatal car accident on New Watermelon Road Wednesday afternoon was a 20-year-old Northport man, a Tuscaloosa Police spokeswoman said Thursday.
Stephanie Taylor, the public information officer for TPD, said the victim was driving a Mercedes SUV near the intersection of New Watermelon Road and Lakeridge Court around 2 p.m. Thursday when investigators believe he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a BMW traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Thomas Jose Herrera Bigham.
The BMW struck a ditch and overturned after the collision, but Taylor said its driver did not report any injuries at the scene of the accident.
