Police Make Arrest After Deadly Tuesday Shooting in Tuscaloosa County
Police in Tuscaloosa have charged a 20-year-old with murder for his alleged role in a Tuesday morning shooting that left another young man dead.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said sheriff's deputies responded to Timpertop Lane near Fosters and Ralph around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on reports of a shooting.
Kennedy said the first deputy on the scene was a licensed paramedic and tried to render aid to 22-year-old Jaylin Reed, but the victim died at the scene and the VCU was called to investigate.
"VCU has been investigating throughout the day, and at this time has arrested Tywann Long, age 20, for one count of murder," Kennedy said. "The motive is still under investigation, but sale and/or possession of illegal narcotics appear to be a factor. The investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests are possible."
Police are still seeking information about this deadly shooting and anyone with any information is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690.
Long had not been fully booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail at the time Kennedy alerted local media to his arrest and his mugshot was not available at the time this report was published, it will be added when possible.
