Police Close University Boulevard in Tuscaloosa to Search for Hit-and-Run Driver
Police in Tuscaloosa closed a portion of University Boulevard Thursday night after a driver reportedly struck a motorcycle and fled the scene.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called to a scene between the Strip and downtown Tuscaloosa near Audubon Place on reports of an accident in the area.
Taylor said witnesses reported that a driver struck a motorcycle there around 8 p.m. and immediately left the scene, but the situation was still fluid Thursday night.
The road was closed in both directions as police search the area for the driver responsible.
The motorcyclist received life-threatening injuries in the accident, Taylor said.
Taylor said she expected to update local media on the case later Thursday.
