Philip “Shane” Downs, age 51, of Vance, AL, died January 29, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Blackwell officiating.

Burial will follow in Magnolia Chapel Cemetery in Tuscaloosa with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Jo Carter Downs; grandparents, Odessa Walls and Jessie William Downs, Retha Carter and Russell Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Holly Nikole Downs; daughter, Kady Christina Downs; stepdaughter, Emily Lynne Salzarulo; son, Jordan Shane Downs; stepson, Isaac Steven Salzarulo; sisters, Jamie “Tina” Gann (Kevin) and Whitley Lyn Hyde (Chase); brother, Eric Chase Downs; father, Jessie Harvey Downs (Cheryl); and grandchildren, Maddison Sue Downs, Myleigh Ann Downs, and MacKenzie Novell Downs.

Shane was born in Boaz, AL on August 9, 1970. He was the fourth-generation carpenter in his family and prided himself in the work that he did. Shane did not always have an easy life, but said that when he met his wife, Holly, in February 2021, his life started changing for the good.

He was able to start connecting with part of his family after years of being apart. His wife and family were very important to him. He had so many plans and dreams for his life, but God chose a different path for him. Shane is best described as being kind, generous and selfless.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Salzarulo, Eric Chase Downs, Nick Estes, Bradley Downs, Kevin Gann, and David Pierce.

Honorary pallbearers are Jessie Harvey Downs and Larry Falls.
