The police spokesperson said a pedestrian, who may have been on a bicycle at the time of the accident, was reportedly struck by a vehicle traveling west on the interstate.

The victim's injuries appear serious, the source said, and they have been transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment.

Traffic was backing up near the scene around noon Tuesday, and ALGO Tuscaloosa said in a Tweet that drivers should expect moderate delays.

More concrete information from TPD, the State Troopers or the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service is expected later Tuesday afternoon.
