She said John Thomas Bigham, a 47-year-old man from Cottondale, was crossing University Boulevard at its intersection with 23rd Avenue, where popular restaurants sit on three corners when he was struck by a vehicle.

The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, but Bigham died from his injuries Monday morning, Taylor said.

TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit will work to reconstruct and investigate the deadly accident.
