A woman who was injured after being struck by a driver in Northport Wednesday night is in stable condition Thursday, officials told the Thread.

Keith Carpenter, the assistant Chief of the Northport Police Department, said officers responded to an accident involving a vehicle and a 79-year-old pedestrian at about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Carpenter said the accident happened in the 3500 block of McFarland Boulevard, near the Northport Civic Center.

The pedestrian was seriously injured, but Carpenter said she was in stable condition as of 6 a.m. Thursday.

NPD's Accident Reconstruction is investigating the collision as they do with all significant wrecks, but Carpenter said no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
