Patrick Surtain II Declares for NFL Draft
Patrick Surtain II has decided to forego a senior year at the University of Alabama and declare for the NFL Draft. The junior cornerback is a projected first round pick and is considered the top player at his position by many NFL draft analysts.
Surtain is looking to walk in the footsteps of his father Patrick Surtain, Sr and become an NFL cornerback. Surtain, Sr. spent 11 seasons in the NFL, playing for the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs, and was a three-time Pro Bowler.
The Alabama prospect, in his three years in Tuscaloosa, amassed 117 tackles, 27 pass breakups, and four interceptions. In his junior season, Surtain was named an unanimous All-American, First Team All-SEC, and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
Many mock drafts predict Surtain will be a top 10 pick, meaning he will likely land with a team like Atlanta, Dallas, or Houston who all need some cornerback help. Surtain was an all time corner for Alabama and should be a day one impact type of player for whoever picks him up.
