Overturned Tanker, Gasoline Spill Closes Highway and Interstate Ramp in Tuscaloosa Tuesday
An overturned truck and a gasoline spill have caused the closure of U.S. Highway 11 and ramps leading to and from the Interstate Tuesday afternoon.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, confirmed TPD is working a wreck involving an 18-wheeler near the Pilot Travel Center on US-11.
Taylor said the tanker that flipped leaked some gasoline, which has led to the deployment of the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service HAZMAT team.
The truck driver was transported to an area hospital, Taylor said, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Skyland Boulevard is closed between Hargrove Road and the interstate.
