The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Tornado Watch for five counties in northwest Alabama Friday night ahead of a storm system that has already produced violent tornadoes in Mississippi.

The watch came at 9:25 p.m. and includes Lamar, Fayette, Marion, Winston and Walker Counties.

It is in effect until 3 a.m. Saturday.
